Update From Attorney Charles Chalmers

"As of about three weeks ago all settlement documents and terms have been finalized by counsel for the class and the main counsel for the defendants. The settlement is now being reviewed by a large group of publishers whose agreement is necessary even though they are not defendants. There are approximately 40 of them, and many of them have to review the matter with insurance companies. We are advised this will take several weeks and it started early last week."

I just read on another site that there won't be a new settlement. Is this true?

Good to know it's moving towards a conclusion.

You don't say where you read this, but it's not true so far as I know. The Chalmers update is our best info.

The other site might be talking about a July announcement regarding the status of authors in the Google settlement, which of course is a different case.

Are you able to disclose the details of the new agreement? I'm especially curious to know if there are new dollar amounts for the C category works.

Sorry, I'm not at liberty to discuss details.
